What Does "Origin Post is Preparing Shipment" Really Mean? Check Kiting

"Origin Post is Preparing Shipment."

This a Chinese seller's drop ship ploy. The seller advertises an item on eBay or another site and uses USPS China Post shipping labels. They send the label to the drop shipper. When the seller pays the drop shipper, the forwarding agent releases the shipment. Until then your tracking number is useless.

When you click on the tracking number in your purchase history, you'll see a familiar pop-up. Look at the top of the pop-up, and you will see the real USPS history.

I filed a complaint with eBay about this, and the seller had a few days to refund my money. The seller complained.  (I used a process a buyer once used on me when he wanted to return an item ten days over my 30-day refund policy.)

I canceled my eBay case. Then,  I filed a complaint on PayPal. The item arrived from China in seven days. I would have had it sooner, but the post office does not deliver in my small town on holidays.

Why? Did the shipment arrive so fast? The seller paid the drop shipper because PayPal froze the seller's account. (Not good for someone working on a thin margin). In other words, Paypal stopped the seller from doing business, explained how the account suspension or limit worked if I didn't receive my watch and wanted a full refund.

The process used by the Chinese drop ship sellers reminds me of check kiting.  They sell an item and wait for a future sell to pay for the one they promised you or me.

USPS and China Post created E-Packets from China to lower the cost of shipping for a seller. You will not find any information about E-Packets on the USPS.com website. It becomes confusing to buyers.

eBay will suggest that you contact the seller. eBay will also explain that the listing originated in foreign country and communication could fail due to differences in language.

In the fall, I buy several lots of watch materials made in Shenzen and Guangdong. I use DHL as my shipper and often receive the items purchased in three days.

When I buy small quantities of parts, they come by e-packet. I hound the sellers until they finally ship. The sellers always say they're honest. I forgive them because I already know they live "hand to mouth."

Clicking on the Tracking # Brings You to the Real Details

You can kite by taking advantage of currency float to make use of non-existent funds in a bank account tied to PayPal.  In this way, instead of being used to buy a watch from a wholesaler, The seller funds the purchase when another buyer pays for a watch. The seller misuses the first purchaser's money as a form of unauthorized credit.
